I Played Resident Evil Requiem And Pragmata On Switch 2 – And They Ran Surprisingly Well

Last week, Nintendo invited me to an event in New York where I played a handful of upcoming Switch 2 titles, including the Virtual Boy and the Super Mario Bros. Wonder DLC. I was far more curious about the event's third-party titles, though. Specifically, Capcom decided to demo Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata for the Switch 2, and after playing both, I'm shocked at how well Nintendo's newest console handles them.

Both demos are ones we've played before at Game Informer, though it was my first time with either. The Requiem demo is the same as what was offered at Summer Game Fest and Gamescom last year, showing Grace scramble through a dark medical facility to escape a mutated monster in a hospital gown. Meanwhile, the Pragmata demo is now available on PC and features protagonists Hugh and Diana as they hack and blast their way through a station on the moon.

Pragmata just became the most exciting Switch 2 game of the spring

Futuristic space stations. Sprawling lunar vistas. Roving squads of robots. These are the sorts of visuals you’d typically want to experience on the highest-powered gaming hardware available. Capcom’s upcoming action game Pragmata hits all of those notes (and more!) but nevertheless sings on the comparatively diminutive Switch 2, as shown in a recent preview.

Pragmata, of course, has been around the block. It’s been stuck in development limbo since its 2020 reveal — delayed in 2021, delayed again in 2023, then finally popped up again in 2025 with a string of glowing previews and a 2026 release date. Polygon has previewed it twice since, both times lauding its innovative combat loop and praising its refreshing new IP (even if it’s not a secret Mega Man game after all). Pragmata, folks. Put it on your radar.

Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in the famous survival horror-franchise was already announced for Nintendo Switch 2. The game launches on February 27th on Nintendo Switch 2 and today reaffirmed several of the additional goodies you can pick up as well. Additionally alongside an amiibo figure of Grace Ashcroft, an amiibo of Leon Kennedy, famed pro wrestler from Resident Evil 4 will be made available later this summer. A new look at the Resident Evil Requiem Pro controller was also shown, alongside several difficulty options that are accommodating for new and returning players.
