Browns, Maliek Collins Agree To Extension
Not long before their Week 7 game, the Browns have worked out a contract extension. Defensive tackle Maliek Collins has a new deal in hand.
Collins agreed to a two-year extension on Saturday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter report. This is a two-year deal worth $30MM. It includes $23MM in guarantees.
Collins had been a pending free agent. Instead, he will now be under team control through 2028 as a result of this new deal. A notable raise has been worked out, with Collins having inked a two-year, $20MM contract in free agency last spring.
A quad injury ended the veteran’s debut campaign in Cleveland. Collins was unable to participate in OTAs or minicamp, and he began training camp on the reserve/PUP list. Activation did not take place in his case until late August, but the 31-year-old has been able to play in all six games so far in 2026. Cleveland will count on continued availability for the remainder of this season and beyond.
Browns Defensive Star Lands $30 Million Payday
Maliek Collins has turned his steady production for the Cleveland Browns into a substantial payday.
The Browns and Collins have agreed to a two-year, $30 million extension with $23 million in total guarantees. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the news, citing Collins’ agent Drew Rosenhaus.
The extension represents a sizable raise for the veteran defensive tackle. Collins initially joined Cleveland on a two-year, $20 million contract in March 2025. That agreement included $13 million in guarantees, according to Over the Cap. The new extension averages $15 million annually.
Collins, 31, arrived after being released by the San Francisco 49ers. A third-round pick out of Nebraska in 2016, he spent his first four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before stops with the Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans and 49ers.

Browns free agent check-in: Maliek Collins states his case, Deshaun Watson a mystery
Just like everyone expected, the Cleveland Browns are sitting on a 4-2 record and atop the AFC North after six weeks. Todd Monken's team has surprised even its own fans, and they keep trending in the right direction.
Andrew Berry and his staff have put together one of the league's most promising young cores, hitting on consecutive drafts to replenish the roster with young (and cheap) talent.
Even so, some of their key veteran players are scheduled to test the free agent waters in 2027. Some of them might be playing their way into a significant payday — either from Cleveland or another team.
