49ers have something with Brandon Aiyuk they didn't have last offseason
With the days counting down to the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline, disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk made some waves in light of reports he had hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent after going the better part of a year without representation.
For now, Aiyuk remains on the San Francisco 49ers' reserve/left squad list. He's not on the roster, nor are the Niners responsible for paying him. And, until he files for reinstatement, Aiyuk effectively can't do anything related to the league.
Hiring Rosenhaus, a heavy-hitting agent, is a sign Aiyuk is finally willing to take the next steps toward reinstatement.
Brandon Aiyuk hires Drew Rosenhaus, wants to play again
Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has hired a new agent with an eye on returning to the field.
Aiyuk has hired Drew Rosenhaus and Rosenhaus told Adam Schefter of ESPN that he is “working on getting [Aiyuk] back to work and playing again in the NFL.”
The first step in that process would be filing for reinstatement from the 49ers’ reserve/left squad list. Aiyuk went on that list amid extended acrimony with the 49ers about how Aiyuk handled his recovery after a serious knee injury in 2024. The 49ers voided the remaining guarantees on Aiyuk’s contract in 2025 and Aiyuk has remained away from the team since that decision.
