Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy to Depart at Warner Bros. Following Paramount Close
Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy’s term as chiefs of Warner Bros. is coming to an end.
Multiple sources told Variety that De Luca and Abdy will not be part of David Ellison’s management team after the merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery closes. The landmark $110 billion pact is expected to be finalized on Oct. 6.
Paramount film heads Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein are reported to oversee both movie studios, which will release 30 movies a year, per the provisions of the deal. It’s unclear if De Luca and Abdy will remain for a transitionary period.
Warner Bros Film Bosses Michael De Luca, Pam Abdy Out As Paramount Takes Over
The soon to be merged Paramount Warner Bros Motion Picture unit under the freshly labeled Skydance is bound to be run by current Paramount Motion Picture co-chairs, Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, multiple sources say.
This comes after a sleepless night for Warner Bros’ Motion Picture Chairs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, who we hear, first learned that they weren’t making the jump to the new company from reports last night. It’s our understanding that Paramount co-CEO David Ellison never made a phone call to them about their future and whether or not there’s a job offer in hand. The news comes at a stinging time, as Warner Bros’ faces an epic flop in the $125M-$160M+ priced Tom Cruise starring, Alejandro Iñárritu social satire, Digger, which is poised to open to around $30M WW or less this weekend.

Mike de Luca and Pam Abdy have run Warners’ film division with a big-swing mentality that brought artistic highs, a punishing 2026, and… Digger. With the 103-year-old studio set to merge with Paramount, and David Ellison’s debt load to manage, the pair, sources say, won’t be along for the ride.
David Zaslav threw himself a farewell party last night, because of course he did. Per three sources, it was a more muted affair than past get-togethers at the home of the Warner Bros. Discovery showman. No Margot Robbie or Timothée Chalamet or Michael B. Jordan, just a few top producers gathered around four outdoor tables at the Beverly Hills mansion formerly owned by Bob Evans. Greg Berlanti, John Wells, and Chuck Lorre, among others, plus Zaslav’s executive team, including HBO Max’s Casey Bloys (along with lieutenants), streaming chief JB Perrette, C.M.O. Shauna Spenley, H.R. head Amy Girdwood, comms chief Robert Gibbs, as well as Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy at the film studio (with animation head Bill Damaschke, New Line’s Richard Brener, and the DC guys, Peter Safran and James Gunn). I’d call it a wake if that weren’t so depressing.
