The penultimate day of The International (TI) 2026 on Saturday (22 August) kicked off with a clash between former TI champions in the lower bracket quarterfinals. TI 2021 and TI 2023 champions Team Spirit defeated TI 2024 champions Team Liquid to keep their hopes for a historic third Aegis of Champions alive.

With their victory, Spirit have guaranteed themselves at least a 4th place finish as well as an estimated US$195,425 in winnings. Spirit now advance to the lower bracket semifinals, where they will face the winner of the other lower bracket quarterfinal between Nigma Galaxy and BoomBoys (aka BetBoom Team) to close out the day. Victory there will earn Spirit a spot in the lower bracket finals in the final day of TI 2026.

Yandex, VISION advance to upper-bracket final at The International

Team Yandex and TEAM Vision advanced on Friday to the upper-bracket final at The International 2026 in Shanghai.

TEAM VISION bumped Team Spirit to the lower-bracket quarterfinals with a 2-1 decision in the semifinals, while Team Yandex won by the same score against Nigma Galaxy. Team Yandex and TEAM VISION will compete in the upper-bracket final on Saturday.

In the first round of the lower bracket, BoomBoys downed Iron Wing 2-1 late Thursday, and Team Liquid edged Team Falcons 2-1 on Friday.

Sixteen teams began the 15th annual Dota 2 tournament on Aug. 13. The crowd-funded prize pool has a base of $1.6 million and a current value of more than $3.2 million. Eight teams made the double-elimination playoff bracket, with all matches best-of-three until Sunday's best-of-five grand final.

TI15 Playoffs Day 2 Predictions: Can TEAM VISION’s Momentum Continue?

We had a very eventful first day of the TI15 playoffs, mixed with an opening ceremony, Yatoro aura farming in Shanghai, and a comeback to remember. But we’re just getting started, as day two continues with even more top-tier Dota. Here is a preview of all matches and my predictions for the day.

We’re immediately greeted with an elimination match, as Iron Wing will fight BoomBoys to the death in the first series of the day.

I honestly had decent expectations from Iron Wing after seeing them bounce back in the group stage, but they completely fell flat in the series against Team Spirit. If they continue playing the way they did, I’d be very concerned if I were an Iron Wing fan.
