Star Fox will have a day one update on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo is planning a day one update for the new Star Fox game on Nintendo Switch 2, the company has confirmed.

The patch is one you’ll want to download as it’s bringing in major features. Battle Mode as well as GameChat character avatars and AR filters will be properly supported with the update.

As previously detailed, Battle Mode features 4-vs-4 dogfights, with up to eight players divided between Team Star Fox and Team Star Wolf. There’ll be three stages with different objectives, including securing control of a designated zone on Corneria, collecting energy crystals on Fichina, and gathering cargo from space pirates in Sector Y. Online multiplayer is supported along with GameShare.

Nintendo's Best Franchise Officially Returns in 1 Month

It's been nearly a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 was released onto store shelves, but compared to its predecessor, the rollout of first-party titles from the video game giant has been a bit steadier. After kicking things off with a rather limited first-year lineup including Mario Kart World, the Game of the Year nominee Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders, 2026 has seen things heat up, though. The most pleasant surprise came in the form of the cozy Pokopia, which debuted to some of the highest reviews of a Pokémon game in years, but Nintendo has also garnered praise for the recent Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and has a few heavy-hitters on the horizon, from Splatoon Raiders to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Of all the iconic franchises under the company's umbrella, though, a more underrated piece of its empire is arguably making the biggest comeback.

Former Star Fox character designer thanks Miyamoto for Star Fox revival at BitSummit

The original character designer for Star Fox the talented, Takaya Imamura, has thanked the legend that is Shigeru Miyamoto for the revival of the franchise with Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2. Mr. Imamura was on the stage during his band’s performance at BitSummit and said “Everyone, Star Fox was great, right? Thank you Miyamoto-san. That’s all.”

It’s the series revival so they are right too, also no puedo esperar para bailar al compás del Fox…smh.

I mean, we’ll see. It’s not a series revival unless they make a new game after the 64 remake. Honestly, I think it could go either way at this point.
