One of the firm’s private equity-backed clients has closed two deals this year, and a lawyer there expects to wrap up a dozen in 2026.

Tulane football signee, LSU rising sophomore killed in weekend crashes

Two teenagers, one a Tulane football signee who had graduated from high school only hours before and the other a rising LSU sophomore on her way home to Texas, were killed in car crashes this weekend.

Tulane Football shared the news of 17-year-old Deontavis Cooper’s passing Sunday. In a post on X, the team shared that he was supposed to join the program this week. 

Cooper graduated from Thomas County Central High School in Georgia on Saturday. The same day, he was involved in a single-vehicle crash just over the state line in Florida, according to multiple local news outlets.

FHP: One dead, two in critical condition following single-vehicle crash in Leon County

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – A 17-year-old is dead and two other 18-year-olds are in critical condition following a single-vehicle crash in Leon County Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Thomasville Road near Amber Valley Drive just before 11 p.m. Troopers say there were three males in a sedan driving south on Thomasville Road.

The family has identified the fatal victim as Deontavis Cooper, a football athlete and graduate of Thomas County Central High School. According to previous coverage, Cooper signed with Tulane University on Dec. 3 of last year. He reportedly won two state championships with the Yellow Jackets.
