Gameplay for the upcoming Beastmaster limited job was shown off in the Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter aired earlier today, as well as previews of more combat and what’s to come in the 7.5 patches. While basics for Beastmaster were shown off in the last Live Letter, we get a little more in-depth look with a live hands-on play-through courtesy of Naoki Yoshida.
There are three steps in capturing a beast, translated officially as: “Gauge,” “Weaken,” and “Catch.” First, you use the “gauge” capacity to see if the beast can be captured at all; then, you reduce the beast to give yourself a better chance of capturing it. Using “Catch” will give you an attempt at catching it, allowing you to knock its HP down fully; a success means the beast is recorded in the Master’s Bestiary.
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.5 Live Letter Summary
We're in the home stretch leading up the next expansion for the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, and as is tradition, director and producer Naoki Yoshida detailed everything in the next wave of content during a Live Letter from the Producer stream.
FFXIV Patch 7.5, called Trail to the Heavens, goes live on April 28 and is the first part of a two-part story update series before the upcoming expansion. It includes a new dungeon and trial boss fight for the main scenario quest, and a ton of updates to side content as shown in a hard-hitting trailer for Patch 7.5 itself (see below).

FF14 8.0 Is Not Another Rebirth, Yoshi-P Confirms
Director Naoki Yoshida has clarified that Final Fantasy XIV's 8.0 expansion won't rebuild the MMO from scratch the way A Realm Reborn did in 2013, but promises it's still substantial.
The word "rebirth" carries a lot of weight in the Final Fantasy XIV community. A Realm Reborn wasn't just an expansion in 2013 , it was a complete teardown and reconstruction of a game that had failed publicly. So when players started throwing that word around in connection with version 8.0, director Naoki 'Yoshi-P' Yoshida felt the need to pump the brakes.
In a recent interview with Famitsu (machine-translated via DeepL), Yoshi-P was direct: calling 8.0 a "second" A Realm Reborn isn't accurate, because Square Enix isn't rebuilding the game from the ground up the way it did over a decade ago. The client isn't being gutted and replaced. The game's core infrastructure isn't being torn apart and reassembled. That was a specific, once-in-a-generation kind of overhaul, and 8.0 simply isn't operating on that scale.
