ST. LOUIS — Strong storms are forecast to hit the St. Louis region late Wednesday evening, according to 5 On Your Side's Weather Impact Meteorologists.
Rain settled into the area on Wednesday morning, but did not develop into severe storms. The storms quickly exited the region, which allowed the atmosphere to recover and increased the possibility for severe storms later in the day.
The Storm Prediction Center upgraded St. Louis to a Slight risk for severe weather for Wednesday afternoon and evening. That's an increase in severity from Tuesday's forecast.

(KFVS) – It has felt more like June than mid-April today.
First Alert Chief Meteorologist Grant Dade says scattered thunderstorms will move across the area this evening and continue through the overnight hours.
While severe weather is not expected at this time, the strongest storms could produce pea-sized hail and wind gusts up to 45 mph.
Lows by morning will dip into the lower to middle 60s.
A few showers may occur early in the day tomorrow, followed by partly cloudy skies. An isolated storm or two is possible in the afternoon, though no severe weather is anticipated. Highs will reach the lower 80s.
