Celebrini has 4 points for Sharks in comeback win against Ducks
SAN JOSE — Macklin Celebrini had four points, Alexander Wennberg scored the game-winning goal with 31 seconds left in the third period and the San Jose Sharks rallied to defeat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 at SAP Center on Wednesday.
Celebrini, who had two goals and two assists, tied the game 3-3 at 18:21 of the third period. He took a pass at the top of the left face-off circle, and his wrist shot past a Wennberg screen beat Anaheim goalie Lukas Dostal over the glove.
“(Wennberg) took the whole thing away, like the goalie couldn't see anything, and I had the whole side of the net," Celebrini said. "That's not going in if he's not in front."
The San Jose Sharks Keep Winning At The Last Possible Moment
It has been 2,500 days, give or take a week, since the San Jose Sharks last played a truly meaningful hockey game. That game was a series-ending 5-1 loss to St. Louis in the 2019 Western Conference Finals, and since then, the Sharks have been the worst team in the league both by record and, justifiably enough, by attendance. Whatever else you may think of Sharks fans, which we accept is essentially nothing one way or another, they are discerning.
So the team has come up with a couple of shameless gimmicks to juice the house. The first was to invent an AI character named "Macklin Celebrini" to electrify and entertain on a nearly nightly basis, and when that seemed to hit a wall, they added a new twist to the Celebrini (which is the trendiest new aperitif order at your tonier bistros) by waiting until the last minute to score a game-winning goal.

With two goals and two assists, Celebrini now has 40 goals and 105 points this season, moving him past Erik Karlsson (101 points in 2022-23) for the second highest single-season point total in franchise history behind Joe Thornton’s 114-point effort in 2006-07.
The 19-year-old Celebrini also now has 17 games this season with three or more points, second among teenagers in NHL history only to Wayne Gretzky, who had 19 in 1979-80.
