Next Final Fantasy Remake Has Reportedly Been Cancelled
The next Final Fantasy remake, and one that has been rumored for a long time, has reportedly been put on ice, which means Square Enix has stopped development of it and essentially cancelled it for the time being. Of course, the project could be revived in the future, but for now, there is no reason to expect this. Considering the PS1 Final Fantasy game has never been remade since its release in 2000, 26 years ago, perhaps it is not too surprising that the project has halted production, as any effort to remake it would be substantial, and it’s not as popular as some other games in the series, which may better justify such a hefty production.

NateTheHate says Final Fantasy 9 Remake is on hold
Generally reliable leaker NatetheHate has commented further on Square Enix‘s long rumoured Final Fantasy IX Remake. In his latest video he says the long-awaited project is currently on hold, which could explain why it has not been announced by the company which sometimes shows off project years in advance. It’s not clear why the game has been put on ice, but they must be having some issues with certain parts.
Just adding another item to his unverifiable claims. That or he’s covering face in the case that the FF9 remake rumor was never real to begin with
