AFCON 2025: Morocco’s security expertise sparks FBI’s interest

Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has received an official delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as part of a visit focused on security arrangements for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, currently being held in the Kingdom.

The FBI delegation, led by Douglas Olson, Director of Operations at the Field Intervention Services Division, and Kevin Kowalski, Deputy Director of the Emergency Response Group, is visiting the Kingdom from January 4 to 6. The visit aims to review the security and public safety protocols implemented by the DGSN during the AFCON finals, reads a press release by the DGSN, noting that the visit reflects U.S. interest in Morocco’s security model for major sporting events, as the United States prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which requires the establishment of an international security cooperation center under FIFA regulations.
