Titans request interview with Chiefs OC Matt Nagy
The regular season is over and that means teams looking for head coaches can now step up their searches.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Titans have started that process by requesting an interview with Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. The Titans will be able to hold an initial interview with Nagy later this week.
Nagy has been linked to the opening in Tennessee since Brian Callahan was fired early in the regular season. He has previous head coaching experience and he worked with Titans G.M. Mike Borgonzi when Borgonzi was in the Chiefs’ organization.
Nagy went 34-31 in four seasons as the Bears’ head coach. He took the team to the playoffs twice, but was fired after going 6-11 in 2021. He was the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator before going to Chicago and returned to Kansas City after being let go by the Bears.
Tennessee Titans change front office structure ahead of coaching search
The Titans are “restructuring the roles†of GM Mike Borgonzi and President of Football Operations Chad Brinker ahead of the team’s coaching search. Borgonzi “will be given full control and final say over the 53-man roster and report directly†to owner Amy Adams Strunk instead of Brinker. Borgonzi also will be “put in charge of the coaching search, rather than co-piloting the endeavor with Brinker.†This restructure “upends the arrangement announced when Borgonzi was hired in January 2025.†Brinker, who “spearheaded the search to hire Borgonzi, was granted final say on roster matters despite Borgonzi being the chief football executive who was in charge of putting the roster together.†In the original flow chart, Borgonzi “reported to Brinker, who reported to Adams Strunk.†Brinker will lead “strategic functions including salary cap management, analytics, research and development and other football departments†(Nashville TENNESSEAN, 1/2).

Titans to interview Super Bowl-winning coach with Patrick Mahomes connection to pair with Cam Ward
Titans to interview Super Bowl-winning coach with Patrick Mahomes connection to pair with Cam Ward originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It appears the Titans have their franchise QB in Cam Ward. Now, they need the head coach who can pair with Ward into the future.
They can look to this season's New England Patriots as an example. With Drake Maye a rookie in 2024 with Jerod Mayo, they won four games. But with Mike Vrabel brought in this season, the Pats won 14 games.
Ward displayed his special talent more and more down the stretch of the season, giving plenty of reason for job candidates to want to come to Tennessee.
