The 2025-26 NBA season is more than two months old and the Boston Celtics have largely exceeded expectations so far, entering Monday third in the Eastern Conference standings at 19-12.
One of the biggest reasons for Boston’s first half success has been Jaylen Brown’s All-Star caliber play, but the casual basketball fan may not know about one of the other key parts of the Celtics’ hot start.
Celtics' Neemias Queta: Steady ways continue Sunday
Queta ended with 11 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, two blocks and one steal across 29 minutes during Sunday's 114-108 loss to the Trail Blazers.
Queta has become entrenched as Boston's top center in 2025-26, making him worthy of rostering in most fantasy leagues. The big man has averaged 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.9 steals in 25.7 minutes per contest across 11 games this month.

Neemias Queta is single-handedly altering the Celtics' future
Derrick White is one of the most unique defenders in the NBA, and that’s reflected in his defensive stats in the paint. But the rim protection they’ve gotten from Neemias Queta this season is the much bigger revelation when it comes to the future of the franchise. Queta emerging as a potentially elite rim protector is absolutely incredible.
The Celtics still may need to add another center in the next two years, but Queta looks like he has the potential to be a legitimate starting center on a title team. He would be an elite backup, but he could be a starter on the next Celtics championship squad. That takes a ton of pressure off of Boston, regarding the desperation with which they need to search for another center once Jayson Tatum returns.
