Antoine Semenyo: Manchester City close to agreeing terms with Bournemouth attacker

Manchester City are close to agreeing terms with Bournemouth to sign Antoine Semenyo for £65m.

Their move for the Ghana forward, 25, is at an advanced stage with talks over the past 48 hours aimed at closing the finer details of the deal.

City have agreed to meet Semenyo's £65m release clause, while the player's representatives were in Manchester on Monday finalising personal terms.

Discussions continued on Tuesday with sources indicating that a total agreement is now close with the January transfer window due to open on Thursday.

Semenyo, who is in Bournemouth's starting line-up to play Chelsea on Tuesday, has been keen for his future to be resolved by 1 January but it remains to be seen whether the Cherries push for the attacker to play against Arsenal on Saturday, 3 January.

Semenyo’s move to Manchester City nears as Bournemouth hammer out terms

Move could be completed as soon as New Year’s Day

Bournemouth expect Antoine Semenyo’s transfer to Manchester City to be finalised this week, with the only remaining issue being the payment terms of his release clause.

The wide forward’s clause is worth slightly less than £65m, a sum that includes loyalty money and agent fees. City are thought to want to pay this over three years and Bournemouth believe an agreement will be sealed by Sunday at the latest but possibly as soon as New Year’s Day.

Semenyo’s personal terms are understood to now be in place, the 25-year-old set to earn a basic salary of about £150,000 a week plus incentives across a five-year contract.

Semenyo has also piqued the interest of both Manchester City and United, Chelsea, and Tottenham, with Manchester City seen as the favorites to secure the winger’s signature, but reports from The Mail (a reliable City reporter) and The Telegraph allege that Liverpool are potentially lining up an offer of their own.
