Comings and Goings: Soap Alum Jordi Vilasuso Poised For Daytime Comeback on Beyond The Gates!

Hot on the heels of Beyond the Gates introducing Greg Vaughan as Kial, the show is adding another cast member to its ranks — one who, like Vaughan, has appeared on both Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless and has won a Daytime Emmy for his work. The actor in question? Jordi Vilasuso, most recently seen on soaps as Rey Rosales on Y&R from 2018 until 2022.

Vilasuso burst onto the soap scene 25 years ago when he was cast as Tony Santos on Guiding Light. He exited the show in 2003, the same year he nabbed a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor. His next daytime gig was on All My Children, where he portrayed Griffin Castillo from 2010-11. After AMC’s cancellation, it was revived online for a spell in 2013, and Vilasuso returned as Griffin for the reboot. Next, from 2016-17, he played the role of shady Dario Hernandez on DAYS. On Y&R, his Rey was in a popular romance with Sharon, played by Sharon Case, when the character was unexpectedly killed off.
