Trump's $2,000 tariff dividend check latest: When payment could arrive
As President Donald Trump announces military members are receiving a "Warrior Dividend," you may be wondering if the rest of the country is still set to receive a $2,000 tariff dividend.
Trump first mentioned the payment on his Truth Social account in November, posting the tariff dividend would be paid out to "everyone," but would exclude "high income people." A few days later, on Nov. 12, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the stimulus checks would be for families earning $100,000 or less.
Since then, Trump has doubled down that the $2,000 payments would be sent out to Americans, "probably in the middle of next year."
Here's all the free money Trump's talked about giving Americans during his second term — and where it all stands
Throughout his second term, Trump has pledged to send Americans money in various ways, including tariff rebate checks and bonuses to select government employees.
Some of that free money is becoming a reality: Congress created "Trump Accounts" as part of the "Big Beautiful Bill," which will provide tax-free federal grants of $1,000 to children born in the next few years.
Others remain elusive, or have fallen by the wayside. Remember the DOGE dividend?
Trump also sent out checks during his first term, but under much different circumstances. As part of two successive COVID-era stimulus bills, the federal government sent Americans $1,200 in the spring of 2020 and $600 in the winter, shortly before the president left office.

Who's getting a $2,000 stimulus check? Latest update
Discussions about stimulus checks have been circulating in the news and on social media for the past few months. Many are assuming that they will receive a check soon in the mail, and others are being warned not to fall for scams.
Stimulus checks are direct federal payments the U.S. government has sent to households during times of economic stress to help people with basic expenses and boost economic spending. The most well-known rounds were during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020–2021, when the government sent up to $1,200, $600 and $1,400 per person to eligible taxpayers as part of economic relief laws. These payments were authorized by Congress and distributed by the IRS to millions of Americans to support them during job losses and economic disruption.
