Power Rankings, Week 2: Warriors, Spurs, Lakers rise up
The Thunder stay at No. 1, but the Warriors, Lakers, Spurs and Pistons are all rising to open 2025-26.
Victor Wembanyama’s soaring start has helped the Spurs take flight in Week 2’s Power Rankings.
The season is only six days old, but if you’re a fan in San Antonio or Boston, you may be wondering…
Before this season, 257 teams in NBA history started the season 3-0, and 206 (80%) of those teams went on to reach the playoffs. The last two teams to miss the playoffs after winning their first three games were the 2022-23 Blazers and Jazz.
To date, 252 teams have started the season 0-3, and only 68 (27%) of those 252 have gone on to make the playoffs. That list does include last season’s Pistons, who started 0-4 and finished as the 6 seed in the Eastern Conference.
2025-26 NBA Power Rankings: Spurs, Thunder, Bulls, 76ers stay perfect, Celtics, Mavericks start slow
Week 1 is in the books! The NBA season started with a 2 OT thriller on NBC and Peacock and we never looked back. After three to four games for every team, I rank my top 10 teams based on the small sample size. All Championship odds are courtesy of DraftKings.
NBA Finals odds: +245Points Leader: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (35.7)Rebound Leader: Isaiah Hartentstein (11.0)Assist Leader: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (5.7)
The Thunder are off to an epic start. Oklahoma City has been involved in most entertaining games to start the season and they've done it without Jalen Williams. Naturally, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had to go Superman a few times. He scored 35 and 55 points in the first two games with clutch shot after clutch shot.

As we descend into spooky season, the NBA has mercifully returned with real games. Sure, you made the conference finals the last two years. But what have you done for me lately?
I’m sure after last week’s season-opening Power Rankings, many of you have questions. The entire NBA season is a series of questions, bound by the primary objective that most teams have of trying to win a championship or build toward some sort of team that could contend in a reasonable amount of time. Every week will present an opportunity to ask the questions that really matter, such as what channel is the NBA on tonight or why are we still playing “Who He Play For?”
