1 person in custody after high-speed chase in Forest County
CRANDON, Wis. (WSAW) – One person is in custody after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through Forest County Tuesday morning.
An off-duty Forest County deputy contacted the Forest County Dispatch Center just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday to report a vehicle that was traveling north on Hwy 55 at a high rate of speed, passing in a no-passing zone, with a very loud exhaust. A deputy spotted the vehicle on Hwy 55 near Cty Hwy S. That deputy turned around to catch up to the suspect’s vehicle. As they did that, the suspect sped up and continued north on Hwy 55.
A second deputy spotted the suspect’s vehicle, still speeding and with his headlights turned off. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the second deputy hit a deer, disabling their patrol car. The suspect continued to avoid law enforcement. The sheriff’s office says the suspect was going more than 110 mph while passing multiple vehicles with his headlights off. The suspect continued north on Hwy 55, then west on Hwy 8 through the city of Crandon. He continued west on Hwy 8 and stopped on the shoulder of the road near Tower Rd. He then turned around and headed east, back toward Crandon.
Forest County deputy crashes into deer during 110+ mph pursuit of driver with no headlights
FOREST COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Early Tuesday morning, while authorities were pursuing a driver speeding over 110 mph with no headlights in Forest County, a deputy crashed into a deer, totaling their squad car.
On October 14, around 6:35 a.m., the Forest County Sheriff’s Office stated they were contacted by an off-duty deputy about a speeding Audi on Highway 55 northbound. It was noted that the Audi was passing in a no-passing zone and had a ‘very loud’ exhaust.
Shortly after, an on-duty deputy spotted the vehicle near County Highway S, and while the deputy was turning around, the vehicle reportedly increased in speed.

Loud, speeding Audi can’t elude Forest County deputies despite deer crash
CRANDON, Wis. (WBAY) – A Langlade County man is jailed facing felony charges in Forest County after a high speed pursuit.
An off-duty Forest County deputy reported a blue Audi with a “very loud exhaust” speeding north on Highway 55, passing in a no-passing zone just after 6:30 Tuesday morning.
An on-duty deputy spotted the speeding car near County Hwy S. As the deputy turned around to catch it, the Audi sped up.
The fleeing driver turned their headlights off in the dawn hour before passing a second deputy, who joined the pursuit. The chase exceeded 110 miles per hour.
The second deputy hit a deer, disabling their patrol car and forcing them out of the pursuit.
