After being snubbed at TGA, Silent Hill f cleans house at The Horror Game Awards

Silent Hill f goes for the jugular at the Horror Game Awards 2025

The Horror Game Awards 2025 kicked off last weekend, on Sat. 13, at the Kensington Conference and Events Centre. Hosted by its co-creators Will Penkeyman and Phil Dickens, as well as co-producer Ash Millman, the award show looks to celebrate horror games and the game developers behind them. And one game in particular won big this year: Silent Hill f.

While Silent Hill f didn't do quite as well at The Game Awards (where it was nominated across four categories, including Best Narrative), it diced and sliced its competitors at The Horror Game Awards.

Silent Hill f writer Ryukishi07 shares what he hopes you learn from his take on the horror series

Truth be told, I haven't played all that many games this year, who has the time! There was one I couldn't miss out on, however, which was Silent Hill f, the first properly new entry in the series for many years, and one with some pedigree behind it, Higurashi and Umineko writer Ryukishi07. I ended up reviewing it for this here site, and liked it very much then, and perhaps more now. There were some great lessons to be learned, and in a recent interview, Ryukishi07 put some of those lessons into succinct, quite lovely words.

Speaking to GamesRadar, the writer spoke of how each of the horror game's characters, not just protagonist Hinako, but her parents, her friends, and the mysterious Fox Mask "may have had their own hell. Please do not forget that, or the fact that Hinako was oblivious to those hells, as she was too consumed by her own personal hell to notice." He continued to note how your own personal hell is "a world of solitude that no one else can perceive, but please do not fall into the trap of assuming that others around you have no hell of their own."

Silent Hill f Dominates The Horror Game Awards 2025, Wins Game of the Year

Konami’s Silent Hill f stole the spotlight at The Horror Game Awards 2025, winning four of its six nominations, including Game of the Year. Unlike The Game Awards 2025, where major franchises like Grand Theft Auto VI overshadowed competitors, Silent Hill f stood out. Moreover, fans and critics praised its immersive horror and compelling story. Consequently, it cemented its position as a standout title this year.

In addition to Game of the Year, Silent Hill f won Best Narrative, Best Performance for Konatsu Kato, and the Technical Achievement Award. Meanwhile, Frankie Smile Show’s Look Outside earned Best Art Direction and Best Indie Horror Game, narrowly surpassing Silent Hill f in visuals.
