Social Media Fakes Now Circulating CT Lottery Scam App: Officials

CONNECTICUT — CT Lottery officials are warning players to be on the lookout for fraudulent websites and apps posing as official CT Lottery platforms.

The websites and apps look real, but they're not, officials said.

"The security of our players is a top priority and we will do everything we can to protect them," CT Lottery President and CEO Frank Suarez said.

The fake ads have been appearing primarily on Facebook and Instagram. They illegally feature the CT Lottery’s logo, scratch and draw game images, app icons, and other Connecticut imagery in an attempt to trick users. officials said.

When clicked, the ads direct victims to third-party sites that prompt them to register and provide banking information — including requests for cryptocurrency, officials said.

$2.2 million CT Lottery prize finally finds its winner

WALLINGFORD, Conn. — A $2.2 million CT Lottery prize from earlier this summer has finally been claimed, the agency reported Friday.

It took about three months for the winner to come forward after originally purchasing the ticket.

A Manchester man recently claimed the prize. He bought the ticket in June at Mack’s Wine & Liquor on Hartford Road in town.

CT Lottery says the ticket was purchased approximately an hour before the draw time.

For selling the winning ticket, the business on Hartford Road will receive a $10,000 bonus.
