Buccaneers To Release QB Kyle Trask
Teddy Bridgewater‘s Buccaneers deal looks like it will lead to a relocation for the team’s previous backup. Kyle Trask has been informed he will be waived, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports.
This will come via an injury settlement or a waived/injured designation, per Fowler, as Trask has dealt with a shoulder issue lately. Bridgewater is set to replace him as Baker Mayfield‘s top backup.
Bucs will release Kyle Trask
Teddy Bridgewater's arrival in Tampa has led to a change at the backup quarterback spot for the Bucs.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Bucs will release Kyle Trask. He is expected to land on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury before being released with an injury settlement, which will leave him free to sign with another team.
Trask was a second-round pick in 2021 and he re-signed with the Bucs this offseason. He was 4-of-11 for 28 yards in seven regular season appearances with the team.
One team that could have interest in Trask is the Raiders. They are in the market for a backup quarterback due to Aidan O'Connell's injury and General Manager John Spytek and minority owner Tom Brady were both with the Bucs when Trask entered the NFL.

Buccaneers' Teddy Bridgewater: Set to back up Mayfield
Bridgewater is line to serve as Baker Mayfield's top backup ahead of Week 1, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Per Fowler, the Buccaneers plan to move on from Kyle Trask, who is dealing with a shoulder issue and is slated to be let go with an injury designation. Fowler notes that in such a scenario, Trask would then revert to IR and subsequently look to reach an injury settlement with the team, which would allow him to sign elsewhere once healthy. Bridgewater last saw regular-season action in 2023, with the Lions.
