Commanders release veteran wide receiver as others return
With Noah Brown appearing to be ready to come off of injured reserve, the Commanders have released wide receiver Robbie Chosen.
Chosen appeared in three games for the Commanders this season. In his first game against Dallas, he was targeted four times and made all four receptions for 36 yards, including a 13-yard reception. Against the Lions, Chosen was targeted four times, catching one for 17 yards. In the Madrid, Spain game (Week 11), against the Dolphins, Chosen had one pass thrown his way, but did not make the reception.
Both Noah Brown and Terry McLaurin practiced fully on Thursday. Other receivers listed on the injury report for Thursday's workout, Jaylin Lane (hip) and Treylon Burkes (finger), were both limited in practice. At the same time, Chris Moore (shoulder) was a full participant.
Commanders Release WR Robbie Chosen
According to John Keim, the Commanders released WR Robbie Chosen on Friday.
Chosen, 32, signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Temple back in 2016. He played out his three-year rookie contract and re-signed to a one-year, $3.095 million deal as a restricted free agent in 2019.
As a first-time unrestricted free agent in 2020, Chosen signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Panthers and chose to reunite with his college head coach, Matt Rhule.
He was in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2022 before he agreed to a two-year, $29.5 million extension with the Panthers back in August of 2021. However, he was traded during the 2022 season to the Cardinals.

Commanders HC Praises 1st-Rounder Amid Robbie Chosen News
Dan Quinn is happy with the way the Washington Commanders are reshaping their depth chart at wide receiver, after the team released a 1,000-yard receiver in readiness for a former first-round NFL draft pick to suit up against the Denver Broncos in Week 13.
Quinn talked up Treylon Burks on Friday, November 28, admitting about the 18th player drafted in 2022, “If there was a hunger index his would be really high,” per ESPN’s John Keim.
Those comments were made on the same day the Commanders cut ties with Burks’ fellow wideout Robbie Chosen. His release was reported by Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
