Bills place rookie DE Landon Jackson on PUP list

One of Buffalo’s rookies isn’t quite ready to practice at training camp.

According to the league’s daily transaction wire, the Bills placed defensive end Landon Jackson on the active/physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.

While it’s currently unclear why Jackson was placed on PUP, players may return to practice from the list at any time during training camp. But if Jackson remains on PUP through roster cuts, he’ll have to miss the first few weeks of the regular season.

The Bills selected Jackson at No. 72 overall in the third round this spring out of Arkansas.

With time to heal before the regular season begins, discussions will now to turn to how much on-field time the rookie misses.

The Buffalo Bills have placed rookie defensive end Landon Jackson on the “active-physically unable to perform [PUP] list,” per a report by Aaron Wilson. No further information was provided at the time of Wilson’s social media news brief.

Jackson landing on PUP likely means he was injured during mandatory minicamp or some other point thereafter at team facilities. While reports on new injuries are never preferred, the good news is that there’s plenty of time for Jackson to return to the field ahead of the regular season while relegated to active-PUP status.

Buffalo Bills place rookie on PUP list before training camp

The Buffalo Bills will begin training camp next Wednesday, but one member of their rookie class may not see the field immediately when practices start.

The NFL’s transaction wire on Tuesday revealed that Buffalo had placed rookie third-round pick Landon Jackson on the active-physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

The defensive end’s injury is unknown as of this writing, but it may not be anything significant. A league source told Syracuse.com’s Matt Parrino that the team is hopeful he’ll be ready for the start of practice next week.

Buffalo drafted Jackson with the No. 72 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. During his collegiate career, Jackson registered 16 sacks and 28 tackles for loss with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
