New Severe Storms DevelopingAs of 9:25 AM, storms are redeveloping along the I-35 corridor from San Antonio to Waco, bringing rainfall rates of up to 4 inches per hour. The risk for flooding remains high throughout the morning and into the afternoon.
San Gabriel River Flooding & Georgetown EvacuationsThe San Gabriel River is at major flood stage, and low-lying areas along the river are experiencing dangerous conditions.
Due to the rising San Gabriel River and continued heavy rainfall, multiple evacuation orders have been issued throughout Georgetown and Williamson County. Here’s a breakdown of current affected areas:
Road, park closures in Central Texas as heavy rains continue Saturday
AUSTIN, Texas — Several roads and parks are closed across Central Texas on Saturday due to flash flooding as rain continues to move through the area.
As of around 11:45 a.m., more than 100 road crossings were closed, according to ATXFloods.com, with a large number of those in western Travis and Williamson counties.
In Georgetown, officials have closed the Austin Avenue bridges to through traffic and pedestrian traffic until further notice. The closure is due to concerns about the number of people stopping on the bridges and the possibility of debris hitting the bridges, police said.
San Gabriel and Blue Hole parks are closed due to flooding of the San Gabriel River.
