Cor’Dale Flott making notable fourth-year jump in Giants secondary

Cor’Dale Flott helped seal the Giants biggest win of the season last Thursday against the Eagles, when he jumped a route for his first interception of the season.

It’s part of what’s been overall improved play from the fourth-year defensive back, who seems to have solidified a regular spot at cornerback after splitting time with Deonte Banks.

And Flott’s production, coupled with Banks’ continued struggles, have thrust Flott into a more important role.

First-year cornerbacks coach Jeff Burris said he has been impressed with Flott’s attitude and approach.

New York Giants' Shane Bowen still reluctant to name Cor'Dale Flott the starting CB2

Sometimes the best course of action is subtraction rather than addition. That is something the New York Giants are slowly learning as they attempt to return to respectability.

They have moved off of former top 10 pick Evan Neal, a "can't miss" offensive tackle who missed badly. Neal is still on the Giants' roster but has not been active for a single game this season.

Another player the Giants need to detach themselves from is cornerback Deonte Banks, a first-round pick who has not played up to snuff. Banks has played just 24.7 percent of the defensive snaps this season, giving way to Cor'Dale Flott, a former third-round pick, who has been on the field 80 percent of the time.

Cor’Dale Flott’s INT leads to Cam Skattebo’s third TD run, 34-17 Giants’ lead

The Eagles’ comeback attempt got even harder when Jalen Hurts threw his first interception in his last 305 passes.

With the Eagles threatening to get back within one score, Giants cornerback Cor’Dale Flott stepped in front of Jahan Dotson at the Giants 9-yard line. Flott ran 68 yards with the interception until Saquon Barkley pushed him out of bounds at the Philadelphia 23.

Rookie Cam Skattebo scored his third rushing touchdown of the night on a 1-yard run to give the Giants a 34-17 lead with 9:41 left. He also has scored touchdowns of 4 and 1 yards and has 14 carries for 54 yards.

Jaxson Dart has nine carries for 58 yards and a touchdown and has completed 16-of-24 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown.
