The other day I saw an interview with Connor Ingram, who recently retired, and he said something that really stuck with me. He was talking about how, when people would ask him what he does for a living, the first words out of his mouth were, “I play.” Not “I do.” Not “I work for.” I play hockey. And just how cool and how rare that is.
And I guess that’s been on my mind a bit, over these last few days, as I try to figure out what it is that I want to say to you guys.
Bedard named Blackhawks captain, joins list of legends to hold role
Connor Bedard joined the illustrious list of Chicago Blackhawks captains on Tuesday when the 21-year-old was given the honor.
He is the second-youngest captain in team history behind Jonathan Toews (20 years, 79 days).
"Being named captain of the Blackhawks is an unbelievable honor and something I'm truly humbled by," Bedard said. "The captains who have come before me have left an incredible legacy. To now have the opportunity to carry that tradition forward is something I don't take lightly. I'm grateful to the organization and my teammates for putting their trust in me to lead this team. We're building something really special here, and I'm committed to making the entire Blackhawks organization and our fans proud."
