Fire at Huntsville apartment complex displaces about 15 families
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – About 15 families are without a place to call home after a fire damaged the Governor’s House Apartments Saturday night.
Cameron Kilgore, a resident of the complex, says he was away from home when he started receiving calls and messages from neighbors telling him the apartment building was on fire.
“I received text messages and calls from my neighbors. And they’re like, hey, the house is on fire. The house is on fire. But when I finally saw it with my own eyes, I was just lost for words,” Kilgore said.
Huntsville Fire & Rescue says crews were called to the 16-unit apartment complex around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. Between eight and 10 fire units responded, with smoke and flames visible when firefighters arrived.
