Individual known in court as PPT is seeking a permanent injunction, with lawyers citing his risk of suicide
Two news organisations have a duty to the public and their sources to publish allegations of exploitative sexual behaviour by a well-known figure despite claims he is âhighly likelyâ to attempt suicide, the high court has heard.
The anonymous individual, known in court simply as PPT, is seeking an injunction against the Guardian and ITN to stop them publishing the allegations, which he denies.
His legal team have argued that publishing would be likely to lead to his death, after two previous attempts to take his own life.
Unnamed celebrity accused of 'inappropriate sexual activities', court hears
A celebrity has asked the High Court to prevent two news organisations from publishing his identity and allegations that he abused his status for many years to engage, or attempt to engage, in "inappropriate sexual activities with a large number of girls and young women".
The unnamed celebrity is seeking an injunction, and his legal team told the first day of a trial on Tuesday that any publication would be "highly likely" to lead him to kill himself.
They told the court that his drastic reaction was not because of any wrongdoing, but because of the fear of "trial by media".
