Kalshi sues Louisiana officials over state gambling laws
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Kalshi, a global prediction market, filed a federal lawsuit Friday, October 23, against Louisiana’s top officials, challenging the state’s gambling laws. The case could eventually reach the U.S. Supreme Court, according to one legal expert.
The company named Attorney General Liz Murrill, Gov. Jeff Landry and state gaming regulators in the suit. It was filed in the Western District of Louisiana.
Kalshi lets users bet money on sports scores. Louisiana says the company needs a state gambling license. Kalshi says its federal license is enough, and a judge must decide which is correct.
