Ford reports mixed third-quarter results, says 2027 earnings will be in line with this year
DETROIT â Ford Motor expects earnings next year will be roughly in line with the automaker's anticipated results this year, the company said Wednesday as it reported mixed results for the third quarter.
The Detroit automaker beat Wall Street's third-quarter earnings expectations but slightly missed revenue estimates. The company has been working to stabilize production of its F-Series pickup trucks after dealing with supplier issues for much of the past year.
"This quarter's results reflect deliberate actions to improve profitability and deliver consistent financial returns," Ford CFO Sherry House told reporters during a call Wednesday.
Here's how Ford performed in the third quarter, compared with average estimates compiled by LSEG:
Ford reports Q3 earnings beat, tightens lower end of profit forecast but sees $4 billion in EV losses for year
Ford (F) reported third quarter earnings that topped estimates and upped the lower end of its profit guidance. The company still sees EV losses piling up by the end of the year.
For the quarter, Ford reported automotive revenue of $46.1 billion vs. $46.2 billion, per Bloomberg consensus, with adjusted EPS of $0.49 vs. $0.41, and adjusted EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) of $2.66 billion vs. $2.38 billion.
Ford tightened the low end of its full-year adjusted EBIT guidance to between $10.5 billion and $11 billion (from $10 billion to $11 billion seen prior); analysts projected full-year adjusted EBIT of $10.52 billion. Ford's adjusted free cash flow guidance remained at $6 billion to $7 billion.

Ford Reports Its Third Quarter on October 28. Free Cash Flow Is the Number That Has to Hold
Ford Motor (F) reports its third-quarter results after the close on Wednesday, Oct. 28. This time, free cash flow is the number that matters most.
It was a rough quarter for Detroit. Ford’s U.S. sales fell 6.6%, and General Motors (GM) saw its third-quarter deliveries drop about 6%. Both companies’ EV sales fell sharply. Ford’s trucks and commercial vans still have to pay for an EV business that’s losing billions and a dividend that’s been eating more cash than management’s own target allows.
Ford has raised its 2026 adjusted EBIT guidance twice, most recently to $10.0 billion to $11.0 billion in July, after earning $6.0 billion in the first half. (That range includes a $1.3 billion one-time tariff refund booked in the first quarter.) A supplier issue stopped F-150 production from Sept. 24 to 30, but Ford says the hit fits inside that range.
