Microsoft Weighs Tearing Game Pass Apart Into Pick-Your-Feature Add-Ons
Microsoft is weighing a sweeping restructuring of Xbox Game Pass that would let subscribers assemble their own plans from separately priced pieces, including console-only titles, cloud streaming and multiplayer, according to a Fortune profile of Xbox chief Asha Sharma that cited people familiar with the strategy.
The model would run on a tiered framework, with individual features sold as add-ons rather than bundled into the current all-in packages. A Microsoft spokesperson did not confirm any such plan, and the company has not publicly acknowledged the proposal.
The idea has circulated inside the company before. Windows Central reported in April that Microsoft was exploring a "pick your own plan" approach, framed at the time as a longer-term goal letting customers select their own content and features. Neither report has been corroborated by an official announcement.
