The end of a ‘horrific chapter’ for Paris Hilton: Provo Canyon School shut down
The Utah Department of Health and Human Services revoked the residential treatment license for Provo Canyon Schoolâs Provo campus on Friday, effectively shutting down the embattled program.
The facility must stop providing all services by Aug. 16, according to DHHS. The state Division of Licensing and Background Checks had placed strict conditions on the Provo campus in June.
Fridayâs action comes after the state issued a revocation letter to Provo Canyon Schoolâs Springville campus July 6.
With the revocation of the Provo campus license, the school is no longer licensed to operate in Utah.
âNo child should be hurt in a program that is meant to protect them; particularly programs that require the authorization of the state to operate,â Shannon Thoman-Black, state licensing and background checks director, said in a statement.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Utah health officials have revoked the residential treatment license for Provo Canyon School's Provo campus, ordering the facility to stop providing services by Aug. 16.
The decision announced Friday by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services marks another major step in the state's enforcement actions against the facility, which has faced years of scrutiny over allegations of abuse and mistreatment.
The department's Division of Licensing and Background Checks previously placed the Provo campus under strict licensing conditions in June. Officials said the facility must now cease operations by Aug. 16, while state inspectors will continue monitoring the campus at least once a week until it closes.
