Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Bryan Mbeumo after reaching a deal worth in excess of £70 million ($94 million) with Brentford, sources have told ESPN.
The Cameroon international is expected to become Ruben Amorim's second signing of the summer following Matheus Cunha's move from Wolves.
United are keen to wrap up Mbeumo's arrival as quickly as possible following what has been a drawn-out transfer saga.
There's hope the 25-year-old could undergo a medical as early as this weekend and be part of the squad that travels to Chicago on Tuesday for the start of a three-match tour of the United States.
Bryan Mbeumo transfer: Do Manchester United still need to sign a striker or can Rasmus Hojlund flourish?
One of Manchester United's key priorities this summer was a search for goals.
Last season was United's worst in the Premier League era, and a key reason was the paltry 44 goals they scored – the average of 1.15 per game their lowest in a top-flight season since 1973-74.
Bryan Mbeumo's expected £65m move will take their guaranteed spending on attacking talent this summer to £127.5m, following the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
But with both players expected to play in number 10 positions, do the club need a new central striker, or will Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee benefit from added firepower around them?

Manchester United are edging closer to their second blockbuster signing of the summer transfer window after reportedly agreeing a deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international will join Old Trafford in a transfer worth up to £71 million ($95.6 million), following in the £62.5 million ($84.1 million) footsteps of Matheus Cunha following the Brazilian’s move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Excitement has been building over Mbeumo’s arrival for some time given the drawn out nature of negotiations and while the agreed fee is eye-watering, there can be no doubting that Man Utd have acquired one of the Premier League’s most impressive and consistent forwards.
