The Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version Games Are Releasing on Nintendo Switch
Pokémon Day is only a week away, and fans will have something extra to look forward to while celebrating 30 years of Pokémon—the Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version games are coming to Nintendo Switch! These classic remakes of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green will be available to download from Nintendo eShop after the conclusion of the Pokémon Presents beginning Friday, February 27, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. PST.

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen listings appear on Nintendo eShop
Original: A listing for Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen have appeared on the “Coming Soon” tab of the eShop. Each game is priced at $19.99, and both are set to release on February 27, 2026.
The title is stated to support local wireless play, with Pokemon Home support being added at a later time. It should be noted that each language has its own listing. The US eShop has English, Spanish and French; The EU adds German and Italian listings; and the Japanese eShop only has the title in Japanese.

Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green appear in coming soon section of Switch eShop
Someone might have hit a button early, because Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green are sitting in the upcoming section of the Nintendo Switch eShop right now – and they weren’t announced.
These $30.00 AUD versions of the games are available to pre-order. The US version of the eShop also mentions Pokémon Home support, and there is no Save Data Cloud Backup for these titles either.
The games are only 40MB each, which suggests they’re not remasters, but rather the original Game Boy Advance titles.
The release date for Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green is set at February 28th, 2026, you know, Pokémon Day. They’ll be available following the Pokémon Presents presentation.
