TUKWILA, Wash. — A Flash Flood Warning expired after a levee breach on the Green River near Tukwila Monday.

The flow of water at the site of the breach has been stopped and temporary repairs have been made, according to officials. King County Emergency Management lifted evacuation orders for residents and businesses east of the river in the Orillia area in Tukwila, Renton and Kent.

People in the area are advised to be prepared if conditions worsen.

A Flood Warning remains in place for Green River near Auburn and Cedar River at Renton.

Second levee fails in Washington, forcing more evacuations, as atmospheric river renews flood threat

A second levee failed just outside of Seattle as rivers once again surge from more atmospheric river-fueled rain, setting off deadly flooding in parts of western Washington.

Precautionary evacuations were ordered for around 1,300 people in Pacific, Washington, Tuesday morning due to the levee breach along the White River, King County emergency management told CNN. The river hit major flood stage, the most severe level, Monday morning, but has since fallen.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for part of the city, located nearly 30 miles south of Seattle, just after 1:30 a.m. local time Tuesday. It said barriers called HESCOs were failing along the river and leaking water.

Green River expected to rise as more water is released from upstream dam

Another wave of heavy rain smacks western Washington this week, coupled with strong winds adding concern for potential power outages.

TUKWILA, Wash. — The water level on the Green River is expected to rise by up to two feet as officials are expecting to return the Howard A. Hinson Dam to normal water flows in the coming days.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reduced the flow when the Desimone Levee breached on Monday in Tukwila.

The water restriction temporarily slowed the flow of the river, but officials say they need to revert to the normal outflow to make space in the reservoir.
