Conn. voters head to polls as Lamont and Fazio face off in governor's race
The final push for Connecticut governor is on. Ned Lamont and Ryan Fazio are pitching voters on tax cuts, lower electric bills and their competing visions for state spending.
Connecticut voters headed to the polls Tuesday to decide who will lead the state for the next four years.
Democratic Governor Ned Lamont is seeking a third term against Republican state Sen. Ryan Fazio, with both candidates making their final pitches to voters Monday.
But the race is about more than the names and party affiliations on the ballot.
Lamont is highlighting his record over the past eight years, including income tax cuts, efforts to hold utility companies accountable for high electricity bills and his push to build more affordable housing.
Lamont, Fazio face off in Connecticut governor’s race on Election Day
HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – The decision of who will be Connecticut’s next governor is in the hands of voters.
The decision is between Incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont, a Democrat, and Republican challenger state Sen. Ryan Fazio.
Fazio visited small businesses on the day before the election, including H.J. Bushka and Sons, a family-owned lumber yard and building supply company in Naugatuck. Eric Bushka said the cost of doing business in Connecticut is challenging.
Fazio says taxes and the high cost of living have given his campaign momentum.
“We can cut taxes and we can cut electric bills, and we can bring jobs and opportunity back to the state,” Fazio said.
