Health care, housing, wages: Josh Turek outlines campaign goals at Davenport rally
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Iowa Senate candidate Josh Turek made a stop in the Quad Cities Thursday, meeting with voters at Modern Woodmen Park.
Turek touched on the reasons he’s running for Senate, to raise the minimum wage, realign Iowa’s education system to keep up with the rest of the nation and bring back funding for healthcare.
“I’m gonna fight for a livable wage because $7.25 is not a livable wage for families,” Turek said. “Second, I’m gonna go up there and fight to drive private equity outta housing and health care and nursing homes. I’m gonna fight for affordable and accessible health care because I’m someone that believes that health care is a human right and you shouldn’t have to win the genetic lottery to have access to basic health care.”
How Josh Turek tries to connect with Iowans who haven’t voted for Democrats lately
DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) — State Rep. Josh Turek (D – Council Bluffs) is trying to do something in his campaign in 2026 that no one from his party has successfully achieved since 2008: win a U.S. Senate seat.
Not since Tom Harkin won his final re-election campaign 18 years ago has an Iowa Democrat won a race for the U.S. Senate.
Turek is running against U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson (R – Iowa 2nd District, Marion) and Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn (L – Jefferson).
