(Kitco News) – Inflation and jurisdictional risks are serving as powerful examples of the value of alternative assets like gold and Bitcoin, and the ability to borrow against these non-yielding assets could make them even more attractive in the coming years, according to Adam Leeds, CEO of digital-asset-backed lending platform Ledn – which is launching Tether Gold-backed loans in the coming weeks.
Ledn to launch Tether Gold-backed loans, boosti…
Ledn CEO Adam Leeds announced the upcoming launch of Tether Gold-backed loans, aiming to offer a stable, tokenized gold asset that can be borrowed against globally. This move addresses inflation and jurisdictional risks by providing a standardized, digital claim on physical gold stored in Swiss vaults, making gold accessible like Bitcoin but with less volatility. Leeds highlights growing investor interest in combining gold and Bitcoin to diversify risk and preserve wealth, especially as inflation pressures and economic uncertainties persist. The loans are expected to launch by the end of the year, offering a new way for investors and small businesses to protect assets and borrow responsibly against non-yielding assets.

Gold edges lower as firm dollar, elevated yields weigh
Gold prices edged lower on Monday, pressured âby a firm dollar âand elevated US âTreasury yields, while investors awaited the Federal Reserve's policy decision next week, when officials are expected to leave interest rates unchanged.
Spot gold fell 0.5% to $4,143.91 per ounce. â U.S. âgold futures for December delivery were down 0.4% at $4,163.30 â per ounce.
The US dollar edged up, making greenback-denominated gold more expensive for holders of other currencies, and 10-year US Treasury yields rose 0.6%.
"There are concerns that central banks will have to tighten their policies further âto control inflation, which is providing yields another boost. And with yields remaining elevated, gold investors are wondering whether it makes more sense to be âin the bond market right now" said Fawad Razaqzada, market analyst at Forex.com.
