Previewing UVA football’s road test at SMU
In just the team’s second true road trip to this point, the Virginia Cavaliers head down to Dallas for an early-morning contest against the SMU Mustangs. The ‘Hoos enter this game coming off what was an ugly win last weekend against Syracuse, a game in which Tony Elliott and the Cavaliers trailed by double digits at halftime but were able to turn the tide in the fourth quarter. Avoiding what would have been a catastrophic loss was huge, to say the least, but the injury bug hit this team hard in the win.
Starting receiver Rico Flores Jr. and defensive backs Jacobie Henderson and Brandyn Hillman all left that contest banged up. Flores Jr. is out for this Saturday’s game; Hillman is doubtful, but Henderson should be good to go, as he isn’t listed on the report. Other injury news includes fellow receiver Kam Courtney and defensive back Corey Costner. Both are out for this game, while linebacker Caleb Hardy is listed as questionable.
