One dead, two hospitalized in Bangor house fire
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – One person is dead and two others are hospitalized following a fire at a home in Bangor early Wednesday morning.
Fire crews were called to the home at the corner of Cedar and Second streets just after 6:30 a.m., where authorities say five people reside.
Officials say when crews arrived, three people in the street told them someone may still be inside.
Bangor Fire Chief Eric Pelletier said despite the crew’s efforts, that person did not make it out.
“Flames were coming out the attic and the firefighters were having a hard time fighting it and shortly after I arrived, the family was notified they had lost their loved one. I’m just in shock. You know it’s sad when tragedy hits so close to home like this and you know when you see these people day after day and everything, knowing that they’re dealing with this pain and this loss, it’s truly heartbreaking,” said Joshua Hutchins.
