Eagles sign C Jake Majors and RB Carson Steele

The Eagles announced a series of roster moves ahead of the team's trip to London on Friday afternoon.

After signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2025, Majors joined the Eagles' practice squad in September of 2025 after being waived by the Buccaneers with an injury designation. The former Texas Longhorn played in all three 2026 preseason games for Philadelphia. The trade of longtime center Cam Jurgens to the Ravens and the recent injury to Drew Kendall opened up an opportunity for Majors on the offensive line.

After signing a reserve/future contract back in January with the Eagles, Steele made his mark during the preseason – recording two receiving touchdowns, leading the Eagles in receiving yards in two games, and hurdling two Patriots. The third-year power back originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2024 out of UCLA. Steele joins Dameon Pierce as the two running backs signed to the active roster this week after injuries to Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby – the latter of whom was placed on Injured Reserve.

Eagles roster news: Carson Steele and Jake Majors promoted from the practice squad

A preseason fan favorite is going to see some action on Sunday.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced four transactions on Friday afternoon. Here’s an overview:

Of the two practice squad promotions, Majors is the more significant one because he’s expected to start at center on Sunday. With Cam Jurgens traded away and Drew Kendall out due to a knee injury, Majors is the Eagles’ third-string option at the pivot. Majors, who entered the NFL last year as an undrafted rookie free agent, will be making his NFL regular season debut on Sunday. He played better in the preseason than he did in training camp practices this summer, which isn’t really saying much.
