One Chiefs Skill-Position Player Who Could Soon Find Himself in the Doghouse
Since dislocating his shoulder after colliding with Travis Kelce in the season opener a year ago, Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy hasn't looked the same. He no longer possesses the game-breaking burst he flashed as a rookie.
There clearly is something hampering his elusiveness, whether it's that same shoulder ailment or something else. Despite this, Kansas City's coaching staff remained confident in him during the team's Week 3 triumph over the Miami Dolphins. He led all Chiefs wide receivers with 43 offensive snaps but was unable to make an impact, catching two passes for 20 yards on two targets.
This has become a consistent theme for the former Texas speedster. The coaching staff may need to consider limiting his snap share by a significant margin. His production simply isn't matching the volume of opportunities he's receiving.
It's time for Chiefs to consider making difficult Xavier Worthy decision
The Kansas City Chiefs are enjoying a perfect 3-0 start to the 2026 season while quietly grappling with what is an undeniable draft bust in Xavier Worthy. The receiver has been underwhelming in each of his three seasons, last year mostly due to injuries. Three games into the year, Worthy has offered a grand total of 63 receiving yards on ten catches, despite being given the opportunities of a WR1 in the Chiefs' offense.
Making matters worse is the fact that Worthy's elite speed trait was meant to create opportunities deep. Instead, the longest play for Worthy thus far is 17 yards. Driving home just how underwhelming this is, Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, Emmett Johnson, Tyquan Thornton, Rashee Rice, and Kenneth Walker all have a longer play this year.

Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy Still a Big Believer in Former 1st-Round Pick
The Kansas City Chiefs are still working out some kinks on offense.
The unit has been explosive at times, but also has gotten into a few too many ruts. The passing attack in particular has been inconsistent. A specific offensive playmaker has been under criticism for being off to a slow start.
Worthy has posted 10 receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown so far on the season. While that isn’t nothing, many had higher expectations for the third-year receiver. While speaking to the media on Thursday, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy defended Worthy’s underwhelming start, and believes he will be utilized more moving forward.
