Former 5-time MLB All-Star calls Manny Machado ‘misunderstood’
Since his arrival in the MLB 15 years ago, Manny Machado has been considered one of the most controversial players in the game.
But according to one of his former teammates, that might not be true.
Macahdo’s former Baltimore Orioles teammate, Adam Jones, appeared as a guest on “All the Smoke” and told former Lakers star Matt Barnes and former MLB player Harold Reynolds that Machado is not the villain he’s portrayed to be.
“Obviously he gets some bad rap for some things but, that dude is awesome,” Jones said. “He’s a gamer. You can look at his games played; it’s on the back of his card. He posts up every day. Everybody’s going through aches and bruises, but he posts up.”
Cubs-Padres NL Wild Card Series Game 2: LIVE on Peacock/NBCSN
SAN DIEGO – If history tells us anything … this series isn’t finished. Not even close.
The Padres and Cubs have met twice before in the postseason and both times — the 1984 NLCS and last year’s NL Wild Card Series at Wrigley Field — the series went the distance.
Of course, the Cubs will need a major bounceback performance in Game 2 on Wednesday to send this Wild Card Series to a decisive Game 3.
“It's just one game, and we've got a job to do to finish the series off,” said Padres manager Craig Stammen. “We've got to come tomorrow and bring it. The Cubs are a great team. They didn't play their best game tonight. But I guarantee they're going to play their best game tomorrow. So we've got to match them. We've got the San Diego faithful behind us.”
