As one of the founding members of Melbourne motorcycle club the Vigilanties, Gary Anderson initially earned the sobriquet Mouse, on account of his diminutive stature.
Determined to prove himself a man, he developed a penchant for taking on blokes twice his size. It earned him a new nickname: the Angry Ant. âAngryâ â shortened for impact â suited him better. An accomplished rabble-rouser and ferocious rockânâroll singer, Angry Anderson ended up channelling his energy into a variety of causes.

Rose Tattoo frontman Angry Anderson has died just weeks after being admitted to a hospital in Germany during the Australian rock band's European tour.
The 79-year-old singer spent 50 years in the music industry and also became a television presenter, charity worker and youth advocate.
Rose Tattoo's hits included Bad Boy for Love, Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw and We Can't Be Beaten, while Anderson found solo success with the song Suddenly.

Rock singer and Rose Tattoo frontman Gary “Angry” Anderson, who has died at the age of 79, had good reason to be angry.
Born into a household riven by violence, to a Mauritian mother and an Anglo-Australian father he later described as “a very explosive person”, from the age of five young Gary was sexually abused by a friend of the family.
Finding little comfort at home, he turned to a music-playing, hard-living bikie uncle as a role model, and after a stint as a fitter and turner he made his way to rock and roll – first with ambitions to be a guitarist before switching to vocals, which is where he made his indelible mark on the Australian music scene, principally as frontman of Rose Tattoo.
