The Trump Administration has removed a painting by artist Kehinde Wiley, who notably painted former President Barack Obama’s official portrait, from one of its embassies over what officials called its “woke ideologies.”

The United States State Department has removed a painting by Kehinde Wiley from the American Embassy in the Dominican Republic, with officials describing it as “very woke” and “aesthetically terrifying.’
The administrators have indicated that they intend to sell the work if legally permitted. The painting, titled Young Artists After Siamesas 1960, was commissioned by the federal government in 2013 and paid for with public funds. It depicts four Dominican models against a floral backdrop and was the result of two years of research by Wiley into the work of Dominican artists Celeste Wossy Gil and Gilberto Hernández Ortega. The artist worked with art students in the country to complete the composition.
