The city is once again investigating an incident involving people apparently moving through its underground infrastructure.
Police confirmed that the latest incident occurred near West 31st Street and Seventh Avenue by Penn Station on Tuesday shortly after 4 a.m.
It follows two other incidents in May in which police said groups of seven and eight people were spotted entering manholes in Gravesend and Williamsburg, Brooklyn, then emerging hours later.
The most recent incident was recorded in a video shared on social media, in which about five people can be seen exiting a manhole. Some appear to be wearing dark clothing and headlamps.
NYPD investigating video of 3 people climbing out of sewer near Penn Station in New York City
NEW YORK — The NYPD says it is investigating a video of three people climbing out of a sewer near Penn Station.
Video posted to social media shows people in overalls and what appears to be headlamps emerge from the manhole, one by one.
It happened on Tuesday around 4 a.m. The NYPD says it is aware of the video.
The Department of Environmental Protection inspected the sewer system and did not find any structural damage.
The video follows similar underground sightings in Brooklyn and Queens earlier this year. It is unclear whether all three incidents are connected.

Why are people sneaking in, out of NYC sewers? What we know so far
A group of individuals were seen exiting a manhole near Penn Station last week, the latest in a string of incidents in recent months where people were caught wandering in the city's sewer systems.
The New York Police Department says it is investigating after the three people were videotaped climbing out of the manhole.
Earlier this summer, surveillance footage has caught multiple groups of people leaving, or entering, manholes in the middle of the night.
Two incidents were reported in Brooklyn after police were called for individuals seen going into the manholes. One of the groups was seen leaving about three hours afterward, according to the NYPD, while the second odd circumstance ended after individuals were seen crawling out and leaving in a vehicle more than two and a half hours after.
