Tropical Storm Moke still holds steady, heavy rainfall, gusty winds still possible
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Tropical Storm Moke is continuing on a track that will take it to the south of the main Hawaiian Islands, but could still bring heavy rain and strong winds to parts of the state.
The National Hurricane Center said at 11 p.m. Saturday, Moke was centered 330 miles south-southeast of Hilo and was moving to the west at 12 miles per hour.
The tropical storm had maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour with higher gusts. Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles from the center.
Gradual weakening is expected to begin Sunday as it moves into an area of increasing wind shear and drier air.
