5 teams in Sonepat to check sugar hoarding
Taking a serious note of the hike in sugar prices, the District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) on Friday constituted five teams to curb black marketing and hoarding of sugar in the district.
The officers and employees have been appointed in these teams for checking and inspection in their respective areas to prevent black marketing and hoarding of sugar.
Rajeshwar Mudgil, DFSC, has assured the people that adequate stock of sugar is available in the district and there is no need for the general public to panic over the increased prices of sugar. He said the district administration is continuously monitoring the availability of sugar and its sale in the market.

CM Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting with officials in Lucknow on Saturday to review the sugar supply situation. He said, “There is no shortage of sugar in the state and that sugar mills currently have a stock of 179.38 lakh quintals."
He directed, "Dealers cannot hold sugar stocks for more than 30 days, while dealers cannot stock more than 15 days’ supply.”
The CM also ordered to inspect sugar mills and traders’ warehouses and take strict action against those spreading rumors or indulging in black marketing.
Following the orders, officials conducted inspections in several districts. In Baghpat, SDM Digvijay Singh and CO Sukanya Sharma raided a sugar warehouse. In Bareilly and Noida, DMs Avinash Singh and Medha Rupam held meetings with officials to review the stock situation.
