Johnny Depp might reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for the forthcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie.
“We’re talking with Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done,” producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Deadline at D23.
Additional insiders told the outlet that the sixth movie in the blockbuster franchise will focus on actress Margot Robbie’s protagonist, with Depp returning as a side character.
A rep for Depp wasn’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Depp first starred as Sparrow in the 2003 Gore Verbinski-directed film “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” alongside Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer Confirms He’s ‘Talking’ to Johnny Depp About Reprising Jack Sparrow Role
Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed he is in talks with Johnny Depp about reprising his iconic Jack Sparrow role.
"We're talking to Johnny, we're working on a screenplay and hopefully we can get this done," Bruckhemier, 82, said during a Sunday, August 16, interview with Deadline at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California.
The outlet also reported that "solid sources" claimed Captain Jack Sparrow, whom Depp, 63, portrayed in the first five Pirates of the Caribbean films, will serve as a "side character" in what will be a sixth installment "evolution" of the franchise.
An all-new protagonist, believed to be portrayed by Margot Robbie, per the outlet, will reportedly star as the new Pirates lead.
